The IP connectivity of the Set TTop Box (STB) opens up lots of new possibilities for end user services. The many end user features of Dreamgallery™ will let your customers enjoy these services, and the feature portfolio is constantly growing.
Adaptive Action Menu
The possibilities to perform actions grow tremendously for the end users. Remote controls can impossibly hold quick buttons for everything. The Adaptive Action Menu gives the end user one-button access to all the possible actions in a specific situation or for a specific object. We normally compare the functionality with the "right-clicking" of an object on a PC.
Intelligent Channel Zapping
One feature that we have found is especially appreciated by the end users, is the possibility to browse through all channels while keeping the TV picture from the channel he/she was just watching. This gives the user a feeling of very short zapping times, since moving through the EPG information is much faster than actually changing the TV channel.
Personal Channel List
The channel list is a very quick way to find the next channel to watch. The end user is able to create personal channel lists containing only the channels he/she enjoys watching, presented in the desired order. Several personal channel lists are available, and the end user can easily select among these by moving along the tabs using the left or right arrow on the remote.
Reminders
In order not to miss a particular TV show, the end user can set a reminder for the show in the EPG or the TV Guide. A reminder will pop up on top of the TV screen (or on top of the portal) when the TV show is about to begin.
Parental Control
The household "master" can prevent other members of the family to watch adult TV content, visit adult sections of the portal, or perform transactions like VOD purchases. Dreamgallery™ also supports some of the CA systems' parental control features.
Trailer Channels
A Trailer Channel looks and behaves just like an ordinary TV channel, and can be found alongside the other channels in the EPG. However, the end user may skip through the trailers and even purchase the corresponding VOD movie directly from the EPG.
On Demand Channels
An On Demand Channel has the same characteristics as a Trailer Channel, but will normally hold a play list of VOD objects included in a subscription product. The end user may quickly select and start any of the VOD movies in the channel.
Historic EPG and Start Over
Any TV channel being recorded by a Network PVR will be given some specific characteristics in the EPG. For example, the end user can choose to start watching the current show from the beginning (Start Over), or even move backwards in time directly in the EPG, to watch a show that has already been sent.
Scheduled Recordings
The end user can move forward in the EPG data to easily schedule recordings. The feature is available in all different EPG views of the Dreamgallery™ platform. Note that this feature requires PVR functionality (STB or network based).
PVR control with mobile devices
This feature gives the end user the possibility to use a web page or a mobile device to remotely control a PVR Set Top Box in his/her home.
Flexible TV Guide
The TV Guide is the part of the Dreamgallery™ portal showing the TV tableaus for all channels, several days ahead (depending on the operator's preference). Thanks to the flexibility of the TV Guide, EPG data can be shown in many different ways. For example, the TV Guide can be presented based on content categories, such as "Movies", "TV series", "For children", etcetera.
Flexible VOD Listings
The flexibility of the Dreamgallery™ VOD navigation is tremendous. VOD movies can be attached to single icons in the portal, or be listed by categories fetched from the database. Movie lists can also be presented with
customized graphics in cases where more than one content provider is present in the portal.
VCR-like VOD Player
The user interface for watching a VOD movie is VCR-like and allows the end users to use features like pause, fast forward and rewind. The player also provides a stepping functionality that drastically decreases the time required to find a certain location of the movie, as well as book marking possibilities, which will let the end user set a bookmark at any desired position of the movie, and also automatically return to the last position of any movie.
