Dreamgallery™ is a software suite for operators aiming at providing services over IP networks. It sets a new standard when it comes to user friendliness and "TV feel", and it provides a true "What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get" graphical user interface. Dreamgallery™ is running in large scale commercial operation in several installations, and has proven to be robust and resource efficient.
Proven User Friendliness
Dreamgallery™ was developed as a result of end-user based research funded by the Swedish government. Focus group activities are also a natural part of Dreampark development projects.
Scalability
The scalability of the architecture allows everything from running the complete system on one single server to providing load balancing and fail-over for an unlimited number of portal servers.
Robustness and Performance
Dreamgallery™ has been designed to provide the highest possible availability on TV services. For example, all clients work independently of the system servers, and all TV functions will work even if the servers are down. The architecture was also designed to produce a minimum number of hits on the portal servers and the database, and most actions performed by the end user do not require the STB to request data externally.
Flexibility and Openness
Dreamgallery™ was built to make adaptations as easy and harmless as possible. There is no need to reboot STBs after a system upgrade, and new applications can be downloaded to the STBs "on the fly".
Multiple STB Environments
The architecture allows operators to use several STB suppliers within one single system, which means that operators choosing the Dreamgallery™ software will never be locked in to one particular STB supplier.
Easy Porting to New STBs
The client software is based on open web standards and code is executed in a browser application on the STB. All STB specific code is encapsulated in internal Dreampark APIs, which limits the efforts necessary to port the application to a new STB.
Support for Several Ecosystems
The system supports several ecosystems, which means that an operator selecting Dreamgallery™ as middleware is not bound to any CA supplier.
A Truly Configurable Portal
You can completely set up the portal the way you want it. Even major structural changes of the portal are handled without any programming skills through the use of logical structures and a "What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get" editor. For example, you can build hierarchies of portal nodes in order to customize content and/or graphics based on geography or network properties.
Multi Provider Environments
The administration interface allows the operator to set up accounts for external service providers, who can use the login to access the VOD administration and the portal texts and pictures shown to the end user. The VOD database supports several providers within the same portal, and graphics can be adapted for each provider.
Graphical Flexibility
Dreamgallery™ allows for outstanding graphical possibilities and can, literally, look exactly the way you would like it to look. Thanks to the graphics rendering you can use any font you want, independent of supported fonts in the STB, and the result will still look the same for the end users.
End User Functionality
The IP connectivity of the STB opens up new possibilities for end user services, and the feature portfolio of Dreamgallery™ is therefore growing rapidly. Among the many features already taken into service in commercial networks are personal channel list, reminders, parental control, picture in graphics (PIG), TV guide (EPG), bookmarks, VOD, gaming, E-mail, Internet surf, karaoke, etcetera.
IPTV Administration
The IPTV administration of Dreamgallery™ includes automatic customer provisioning, EPG data import, VOD meta data import, and video file distribution, as well as easy administration of movies, movie lists, movie categories, movie assets, products, customers, and channels.
